Autumn in Seoul 7 Places You Might Love

Autumn in Seoul 7Places You Might Love

Autumn may be the best season to walk through Seoul.

For this guide, we did not choose these places only because the destinations themselves are worth visiting.

We also chose them because of the neighborhoods around them.

Visit the Kim Koo Museum & Library, then keep walking through Hyochang Park.

See the old ginkgo trees at Sungkyunkwan Myeongnyundang, then wander toward Daehangno.

Spend time with contemporary art at PKM Gallery, then walk slowly through Samcheong-dong.

Stop for coffee at Coffee Lusso while exploring Jeongdong-gil.

Visit Gilsangsa and continue through the quiet streets of Seongbuk-dong.

Have a meal at Manu Terrace after walking along Yangjaecheon.

And after exploring Seonyudo Park, stay outside a little longer beside the Han River.

The destination is only half of the experience.

In autumn, the streets, parks, hills, old houses, trees, and neighborhoods between places can be just as memorable.

So do not simply save these seven spots on a map.

Give yourself time to walk around them.

These are places — and neighborhoods — we love a little more when Seoul changes into autumn.

1 Kim Koo Museum & Library + Hyochang Park

Kim Koo Museum & Library + Hyochang Park

The Kim Koo Museum & Library is dedicated to Kim Koo, one of the central figures of Korea’s independence movement and the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.

But do not visit only the museum.

Its location beside Hyochang Park is part of why we included it in this autumn guide.

After learning about Korea’s modern history inside, step outside and walk slowly through the park. The combination of history, mature trees, quiet paths, and cooler autumn air gives the visit a completely different rhythm.

Sometimes understanding Seoul means spending time both inside the museum and in the neighborhood around it.

2 Sungkyunkwan Myeongnyundang + Daehangno

Sungkyunkwan Myeongnyundang + Daehangno

Myeongnyundang was the lecture hall of Sungkyunkwan, Joseon’s highest educational institution.

In autumn, the centuries-old ginkgo trees around the historic buildings turn the grounds into one of Seoul’s most atmospheric seasonal landscapes.

But the walk does not need to end there.

Continue toward Daehangno, an area long associated with theaters, universities, performances, and youth culture.

The contrast is part of the pleasure: old Confucian architecture and golden trees first, then the energy of one of Seoul’s best-known cultural neighborhoods.

3 PKM Gallery + Samcheong-dong

PKM Gallery + Samcheong-dong

PKM Gallery is one of Seoul’s established contemporary art galleries.

Its location is also part of the experience.

After seeing an exhibition, keep walking through Samcheong-dong. The area’s hills, galleries, old houses, quiet residential streets, and changing trees feel especially good once the summer heat disappears.

In autumn, the walk between galleries can be just as enjoyable as the exhibitions themselves.

4 Coffee Lusso + Jeongdong-gil

Coffee Lusso + Jeongdong-gil

Coffee Lusso is a good place to stop for specialty coffee after walking through one of Seoul’s most pleasant historic streets.

Jeongdong-gil is the real reason we paired it with this autumn guide.

The street is lined with historic buildings, cultural institutions, trees, and quieter corners that feel very different from Seoul’s busiest commercial districts.

Walk first. Then stop for coffee, sit down, and let the afternoon slow down.

In autumn, that simple sequence — walking, coffee, then walking again — can be one of the best ways to enjoy Seoul.

5 Gilsangsa + Seongbuk-dong

Gilsangsa + Seongbuk-dong

Gilsangsa is a quiet Buddhist temple surrounded by trees and stone paths.

But after visiting the temple, do not immediately head back downtown.

Walk through Seongbuk-dong.

The neighborhood is known for its hills, old houses, cultural spaces, embassies, walls, and slower residential atmosphere. In autumn, the trees and cool air make the area especially rewarding to explore on foot.

Gilsangsa gives you the silence.

Seongbuk-dong gives you the walk afterward.

6 Manu Terrace + Yangjaecheon

Manu Terrace + Yangjaecheon

Manu Terrace works best as part of a longer autumn afternoon.

Walk along Yangjaecheon first.

The stream, trees, paths, and residential surroundings become much more pleasant once the weather cools, making it one of the easiest places in Seoul to spend an afternoon outside without leaving the city.

Then sit down for a long meal at Manu Terrace.

Here, the restaurant is not the entire destination.

The walk before it is part of the plan.

7 Seonyudo Park + Han River

Seonyudo Park + Han River

Seonyudo Park is one of Seoul’s most distinctive urban parks, created from a former water treatment facility.

Its old concrete structures, gardens, paths, and vegetation become especially atmospheric under softer autumn light.

But again, do not treat the park as an isolated destination.

Stay near the river.

Walk along the Han River before or after your visit, watch the light change, and give yourself enough time to experience the openness of the water.

Seonyudo Park gives you an unusual landscape.

The Han River completes the autumn walk.

Explore all 7 places

Autumn in Seoul does not have to mean chasing the most famous foliage spots.

Sometimes the better way to experience the season is to choose one meaningful place — and then keep walking.

A museum and Hyochang Park.

Old ginkgo trees and Daehangno.

Contemporary art and Samcheong-dong.

Coffee and Jeongdong-gil.

A temple and Seongbuk-dong.

Dinner after Yangjaecheon.

An industrial park beside the Han River.

The places matter.

But in autumn, what happens between them matters too.
