About
Hidden Look Seoul

Founder

Hyonuuk(Q) is a Korean artist and creative director based in Seoul. His work began from documenting disappearing urban landscapes, forgotten neighborhoods, and emotional traces left behind by redevelopment and time. Through video, installation, performance, and cultural projects, he has explored the relationship between people, memory, and the city. HiddenLookSeoul began as an extension of this artistic perspective.

History

Hidden Look Seoul began after Q finished an art project in the redevelopment area of Ahyeon-dong, Seoul. The Ahyeon-dong project was about the lack of documentation of old neighborhoods disappearing due to development. He decided to document many old neighborhoods in Seoul that were disappearing. In 2018, he prepared the project after seeing the Sewoon Shopping Center area, an old landmark in Seoul, being rapidly redeveloped. Then he found Airbnb’s experience program. As part of the archiving project, he wanted to show travelers visiting Seoul old neighborhoods before they disappear. He named the trip Hidden Look Seoul and started the tour of the Sewoon Shopping Center area.

Over time, HiddenLookSeoul gradually expanded beyond documentation and local tours. Through collaborations with artists, musicians, creatives, hotels, and cultural spaces, the project evolved into a creator-driven cultural experience platform exploring the emotional and cultural layers hidden beneath the surface of Seoul. Today, HiddenLookSeoul creates new ways to experience Seoul through local artists, music, spaces, stories, and perspectives.

Vison

HiddenLookSeoul creates cultural layers of Seoul through people, places, and perspectives. Rather than simply introducing locations or documenting the city like a magazine, HiddenLookSeoul creates new ways to experience Seoul through local artists, musicians, creatives, and their unique perspectives.

Through cultural trips, live sessions, exhibitions, interviews, playlists, and collaborative projects, HiddenLookSeoul connects people to the emotional and cultural layers hidden beneath the surface of the city. As the project continues to grow, HiddenLookSeoul is building Layers, an evolving cultural discovery system for Seoul connected through artists, music, spaces, creativity, and local perspectives.
