A city of calm and order. The beating heart of Korean publishing culture — where books become architecture, and the city itself becomes philosophy : Paju Book City.
In an era of rapid consumption, this is a place to read slowly and walk gently, where we begin a truly private journey.
Since its inception in 1989, Paju Book City has been Korea’s first cultural industrial complex, conceived by publishers, architects, and cultural planners united by one vision : to create a city centered around books.
Located on the outskirts of Seoul in Paju area, this space now hosts over 250 publishers, bookstores, design studios, and printing houses.
Here, sentences precede words, and architecture stands taller than billboards — crafting a unique ‘city of books.’

But Paju Book City is more than just a publishing district. It is an experimental cultural community where books shape space, and space inspires thought.
This city is not merely a collection of buildings. It is a place where sentences flow before spoken words, and every architectural detail carries deep reflection.
Independent publishers, experimental design bookstores, philosophy-only bookshops, and galleries reborn from old printing factories —here, you discover books that exist nowhere else, and in quiet spaces, you find yourself rereading your own story.
This trip is not sightseeing. It is a journey of reading. In a city full of spacious margins, we pause, observe, and write.Where books flow through the city, so too do your thoughts.
